The project enhances national financial mobilization by improving access to finance through risk-sharing mechanisms and investments. It promotes climate-smart agriculture and gender-responsive practices, ensuring sustainability and social equity. Additionally, it builds an enabling environment by strengthening institutions, increasing financial products for small farmers, and promoting inclusivity. This approach supports small farmers, making them more resilient and effective contributors to agricultural growth.

The Technical Assistance (TA) will contribute to increased climate action by conducting essential studies and assessments required for financial mobilizaation.
Improved Climate-Smart Agriculture and Gender-Responsive Practices
The TA responds directly to Burundi’s need to explore and adopt climate-smart agriculture practices that are more gender-responsive. By providing training programs, integrating parametric insurance, and incorporating smart contract technologies, the TA aims to remove barriers hindering the adoption of adaptive strategies. Specifically, the inclusion of parametric insurance and microfinance technologies will enhance the adaptive capacity of small-scale farmers, ensuring they can withstand climate-related risks and uncertainties
Enabling Environment
Building Institutional Capacity, strengthening local institutions, including agricultural cooperatives and extension services, to support ongoing training and capacity-building initiatives. Enhancing Increased availability and uptake of financial products Introducing microfinance technologies and smart contract solutions to ensure transparent and efficient financial transactions, fostering a climate-resilient economic environment for small-scale farmers. Promoting Inclusivity- Integrating gender-responsive approaches ensures that women in agriculture actively participate, lead, and benefit from climate adaptation efforts, contributing to a more inclusive and equitable sociely.
